CIVIC RESERVE INTEGRATED ATHLETICS AND SOCCER PAVILION IN MORNINGTON SCORES $4 MILLION

MAY 18, 2021

The new Civic Reserve Integrated Athletics and Soccer Pavilion in Mornington is a step closer thanks to a $4 million funding boost from the second round of the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program. The Member for Eastern Victoria Jane Garrett MP today announced the project was one of 42 initiatives that secured funds in the second round of the program.

Once complete the Civic Reserve Integrated Pavilion will feature four change rooms, umpiring change rooms, kitchen, office, community multipurpose space and first aid room, designed to meet Shire wide needs of athletics and district standards for soccer, benefiting the Mount Martha Soccer Club, Mornington Little Athletics Club and Mornington Athletics Club.

The project is expected to create new full-time jobs during the planning and design phase, and additional jobs when construction commences. By working with local government authorities and sporting clubs and organisations, investment from the second round of the program is expected to create 600 local jobs and drive local economic activity worth more than $180 million. A total of 70 projects have benefitted from a share of $178 million from the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program, part of the Government’s $1.05 billion investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.
