Progress on new athletics track at Civic Reserve

MLAC recently had contact from the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council about the proposed IAAF standard all-weather track to be built at Civic Reserve, Mornington. We have been advised that there will be 2 drop-in sessions at the Civic Reserve Recreation Centre, 350 Dunns Road Mornington on the following dates:

Tuesday 14th November from 3pm-7pm, and

Saturday 18th November from 10am-2pm.

The Mt Martha Soccer Club will be joining us with 4 senior sized soccer pitches to be constructed at the same time. We will most likely share a pavillion, which will be built at some stage after the initial build. At this stage, lighting is only proposed for the soccer pitches, which is something we as a club, along with Mornington Peninsula Athletics Club will need to address.

The build will hopefully begin before the end of the financial year. Which will mean we wont have access to the track until the 2019/20 season. However, the senior club MPAC will be able to move in immediately, as they train all year round.

Please have a look at the proposed plans. The council are taking submissions of comments about the design until Friday 24th November. More information can also be found on the Shire's website here:

Civic Reserve Sports Development Plans

We are looking forward to this project beginning, and we wish to contribute financially in some way - whether it is contributing money towards lighting or the pavillion - so we will really amp up our fundraising efforts over the next year. If anyone knows of any community groups with funds to donate, please have them contact the club.
