We had a huge day at Regional Relays on Saturday the 19th of November. We won 5 gold medals, 11 silver and 3 bronze. We were surrounded constantly by the sounds of the "bling cling". There were also many 4th and 5th placings. All our athletes conducted themselves beautifully - they are a credit to their parents and we are lucky to have them all associated with our club.
Thank yous must go out to the following people:
Mark Henry (SMR Competition Coordinator) for running a tight ship on the day and in the lead up to the event.
Trevor Quint (SMR Chief Starter) in his 2nd official event in this role did MLAC proud.
Todd Martin (Jury Convenor) - first time in this role, and had a tough day in a usually easy job.
Paul Davies (Team Manager) - always a very labour intensive job, well done.
During the recent Federal election, our new elected Dunkley MP Chris Crewther announced that if the Liberals won, they would contribute $2M towards building an IAAF standard all weather track at Civic Reserve, Mornington.
Chris is keen for the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to get this project up and running and is constant contact with them. We gratefully thank Chris and Flinders MP Greg Hunt for their hard work in securing this funding.
An all weather track in Mornington will not just benefit Mornington Little Athletics Centre, the senior club Mornington Peninsula Athletics Club will also finally have a home, and the track will be utilised by over 80 Peninsula schools and many other sporting clubs in the area.
